Estate Planning & Administration Services
- Estate Planning
Our team at Welch & Forbes can collaborate with your existing tax or legal advisors to review your current plan or facilitate the creation of a new plan that accounts for your current circumstances as well as ever-changing tax laws. Together we will work to help minimize assets exposed to probate, help limit your tax liability, and offer insight on managing important issues or special circumstances surrounding your estate plan. Clients feel at ease knowing there is a team in place to carry out their wishes and estate planning objectives.
- Estate Administration
When a Welch & Forbes professional acts as the Personal Representative (Executor) of your estate, prompt, objective management, including arranging for the necessary legal and tax services from start to finish, will be provided. We have over 180 years of experience helping to transfer wealth across generations. We review all elements of your estate plan including your will, trust instruments, beneficiary designation forms and any other entity that needs to be addressed upon death. We work with trust counsel to clarify what the administration will entail and provide a timeline.
We assess the present financial situation of the estate, value all assets involved and estimate potential estate tax liability, all while attending to critical family issues. For your beneficiaries we offer prudent, compassionate advice and counsel and act as liaison between them and those involved in the settlement such as appraisers, brokers, attorneys, investment, and tax professionals to keep them apprised of the status of the settlement.
